Jingle Bell 5K Anyone?

As I mentioned on Friday, we kicked off the holiday filled weekend with Christmas Vacation.

On Saturday we got up and went and cut down our tree at Pine Valley Farms in Sykesville, MD.

Then we did some decorating over the weekend ....

The most fun part of the weekend was the Jingle Bell for Arthritis 5k in Baltimore.  I did it with the two most spirited ladies - Lisa & Tiffany, who which I may say have been fun racing buddies. I finished my 5k with a PR of 28:09 and ran the first mile in under 8 minutes - a new record for me. Here are a few pics, and more race details are under the race tab.

I hadn't done a 5K since I have started to run more frequently, nor have a dressed up in fun attire. I really enjoyed the race.  It was fun & festive and it was nice to have it be low key and be able to be home by 11am.

  1. The best part of the Jingle Bell 5K is how people dress up for it. You and your crew make it fun just to be there.

As for the race, I ran it a few years ago and it was a great loop course that was flatter and faster than heck. Last year I ran it again after missing it for a year or two and it was more of an out and back to Patterson Park or something. It wasn't nearly as flat, fast, or fun as the old route.

Because of the course changes, the Jingle Bell 5K NEEDS people like you to make it fun. You're not just being festive. You're providing a service! :-)

  3. Yes - the course was just like the second time you did it (I compared it to my nike+ gps map. I thought it was really hill for being like a charity/family walk/run type event. I swear it took the parts of the baltimore half I hated and stuck them into a 5k. I had a blast dressing up though and I think we are going to dress up for St. Patty's Day (though I can't decided between the 5k in Baltimore and the 8k in DC).

  4. I LOVE the tutu! I need to do another fun run sometime soon. I wanted to do a Reindeer run but I've just been too busy lately. My friends and I wore silly outfits to the Warrior Dash last year, but nothing nearly as creative as this.
