No Run Weekend ...

I love that the week I post my schedule and get all excited for the running to start to pick up, that I don't run. We opted not to run on Saturday since the weather was not that great.  I was planning on running Sunday morning instead.  I went to bed really early Saturday night (10) and didn't get up until 8 on Sunday. I still felt really exhausted from the week at work and my ankle was still bothering me. Not sure how long to be easy on my ankle - but I wouldn't want to make something small turn into a larger problem this early in the year.

So you wonder, what am I going to entertain you with in this post? Some of the fun from last Sunday's run that I completely forgot to post!

At Christmas, I got my husband the Digifit Running Bundle. This bundle includes:

  1. Garmin Foot Pod
  2. Digifit Adaptor
  3. Garmin Heart Rate Monitor Strap
He wasn't quite sure how to put the heart rate monitor on.

The bundle works with the iPhone app IRunner.  Digifit also has other tracking apps for bikers etc.

I use the ArmPocket Sport I-20 to carry my iPhone and I love it. While it is somewhat bulky - I always forget about it and it is very good quality. It fits my iPhone with case & my car keys. During races, I am able to fit my iPhone and a couple of gels. The armband has a memory foam type insert that fits well around your arm and the case is fairly water resident. I have gotten caught in a few bad storms and my phone was nice & safe.

We took it for a test run but had technical difficulties and accidentally ended our workout on the App and had to do two workouts. I wanted to be able to compare it to my Nike+. Neither are super sophisticated ways to track things, but its a good enough for the price and gives enough detail. What I like about the Digifit app is that it tracks info from the heart rate monitor which my Nike+ does not. Also, the Digifit works with the scale that I got over Christmas. Since I like all things graphs and stats, it would allow me to make weight/body composition graphs with workout data as well.  Is it bad that I want to steal my husbands present?

A view from the NCR Trail.

I don't have data from last Sunday's run - be we ran 6 miles in 59 minutes for a 9:53 pace. I was so mad that with two phones that track things, I ended with 0 data. I forgot to turn mine on because I was messing with my husbands, and we accidentally ended the workout on his before we were done. Ahhh technology!

Long Time No Post ... and Run!

Well it has been entirely too long to not post ... but a not a whole lot has been happening on the front here, so I figured I would not bore everyone with complaining about working lots and not having time to run. Pretty much most of my days have been sleep.eat.work.  I did make a couple good meals this week that all came from SkinnyTaste.Com.

Last Sunday I made the Minestrone Soup.

Then Tuesday night I prepared the Chicken Rollatini with Spinach all a Parmigiana. I made it ahead of time so that al Dan had to do on Wednesday night was put it in the oven. That worked out really well for us.  I think we could even freeze these pretty well.

Saturday morning finally came around with the nice sound of an alarm at 6:30am. I wanted to be able to run before going to work. I needed to test out my shoes one more time before needing to exchange them. After a nice 5.6 mile run on the NCR - I decided to keep the Brooks that I was indecisive about.

After not really running more than 2 miles in the last 3 weeks, I actually had one of my best paces for a leisurely run I have ever had and didn't need to walk the entire time.

Since the NCR Trail is near my work, after the run I kissed Dan bye and was off to work!

Saturday night was pretty relaxing - we made Filet with some spinach and scalloped potatoes.

For Christmas I received a subscription to Runner's World.  Until now I had no received any issues. I was getting super antsy but checked my mail and I had 3 months worth!

Last but not least - today we finally got around to hanging some wedding related things (yes, yes about 7 months later!). I ordered this canvas with a Groupon and was very happy with it. The canvas was from Canvas on Demand

And I finally filled a invitation photo frame that I got for the wedding.

I hope to sneak in a mid-week post and hopefully a run!

Pre-Christmas Update

This week has been a little hectic - so I figured I should post before the holidays and then do a post holiday recap.

I would say the post exciting thing that happened all week was that Santa came!

I get pretty excited - I would say it is the highlight of the year for living here.

We also had a little visitor ...

and when we came home last weekend our own little monster did this with our entry way tree ...

Onto the running part of the last week.

Here was last weekends run .... I was totally not feeling it but we did it anyways.

This week we went to the gym twice - I did cross training for 40 minutes one day and the second day I attempted the treadmill again.

I ran 1 measly mile and it was the hardest and sweatiest mile I have ran. But it is better than 4 minutes the last time. I swear - I am not cut out for the treadmill, but I was hoping maybe if I keep trying it will get easier. I ran my mile in 11:09 and my shins and ankles were hurting. I will stick to outside running as much as possible!!! I ended up doing the elliptical after that mile for the rest of my workout.

Almost through the week and no workout?

Last week I was so good and I went three days in a row and then ran 5.5 on the NCR and lots of other running around and cleaning. This week? I have been horrible and haven't gone.  My legs still feel tired from last week. I think too much cardio. 5k on Sunday so I probably won't do anything else til Sunday, maybe elliptical tomorrow.

I did find this picture and think it is great!

Oh - I did also find the rest of my outfit for the Jingle Bell 5k. My knee highs have fur on them! So excited.

And.... Target has these for $12.

]
Thats right - $12 and for 34 pieces of the good stuff. Not the stuff that stains or gets all weird looking after using for a while. I bought two boxes and now we can retire some other pieces and have more for using in the freezer.

Oh! And one last thing - Registration for the Baltimore Running Festival starts on Tuesday and for their 12 days of Christmas there is a $12 discount. Who is in???

What a Weekend!

Since Friday a lot has been accomplished!

First and foremost - I am so honored that Christie has asked me to be a part of her special day. I am so excited and we will have an awesome group of bridesmaids. There are two other girls, but this photo encompasses the SC&H girls (I think this picture was from Vegas in 2010).

We also decorated our tree for the contest at work, so that made the day a little more fun.

After work Dan & I went on and went to the gym Friday evening for the third day in a row!

Saturday was a very packed day that started of with a 5.5 mile run on the NCR trail. Even though it was below 40, it felt really nice. It went well, but after working out 3 days in a row on the Arc Trainer, my legs were feeling it.

After running some errands, we decorated the outside of the house.

Then we went to the SC&H Holiday Party at M&T Bank Stadium. It was a blast!

Sunday was more low key. I started working on the indoor decorations but there is a lot more to get done and I will post pics once we get our tree next weekend!

I made one of my favorite soups ever!

Rachael Ray's double dumpling soup. The only thing I add is some corn. Recipe Here

PS - I love the bowls, they are from Crate & Barrel.  You don't lose your spoon and the curves of the bowl makes it feel really nice in your hands on the couch!

I think that is about it for this weekend!
